About the event
The presentation will be a historical account of the creation and use of economic data under socialism, as well as a reflection on the processes through which the available statistical data conditioned the production of economic knowledge across the Iron Curtain.Statistical data became a key infrastructure for the production of economic knowledge on either side of the Iron Curtain. The production and manipulation of comprehensive data series about macroeconomic indicators became of paramount importance for science and policy-making.To elucidate the infrastructures of economic knowledge production in socialist societies, we will simultaneously focus on the emerging technologies, statistical instruments, ethical issues, and forms of ideological intervention articulating distinct regimes of data production during the Cold War.
The participation to the event is free of charge and for the RAU students will be considered Extracurricular Activity as long as they register for the event with the @student.rau.ro institutional email address.
