CYBER-CRIME & CYBER-SECURITY (3CS)
International School

In the digital age, individual rights and freedoms extend online, necessitating global protection. Cybercrime, a growing threat to democracy and society, encompasses various online offences that exploit digital technology for malicious purposes. Among these crimes, online human trafficking is a grave concern, intersecting with online fraud, forgery, and illegal content.

Traffickers exploit digital platforms, using social media, job portals, and encrypted messaging services to recruit and exploit victims. They pose as legitimate employers, offering fake job opportunities to lure individuals into exploitative situations. The sale of sexually explicit content involving trafficked individuals is rampant on the dark web, where anonymity and cryptocurrencies complicate law enforcement efforts.

Collaboration between law enforcement, financial institutions, and cybersecurity experts is crucial to combat these challenges. Advanced investigative techniques, such as AI-driven data analysis and covert surveillance tools, are employed to identify and disrupt trafficking networks. However, this raises ethical concerns about privacy and constitutional rights, highlighting the need to balance technological advancements with safeguarding fundamental freedoms.

In this context, the Romanian-American University organizes the international school on CYBER-CRIME & CYBER-SECURITY (3CS).

The upcoming edition of this International School will take place at the Romanian-American University between 21st – 29th of September 2024.
