“Animation Journey” – Latest trends in Japan
The Romanian-Japanese Studies Center “Angela Hondru” within the Romanian-American University, in partnership with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Embassy of Japan in Romania, organized the event entitled “Animation Journey” – Latest trends in Japan, in the presence of numerous guests from institutions, organizations and companies collaborating with Japanese partners, as well as representatives of the media and students.
The event, consisting of two parts, was opened by His Excellency Mr. Katae Takashi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Romania, and Mrs. Sawaka Takazaki, Director of JETRO Romania. The event was moderated by Mr. Șerban Georgescu, Director of the Romanian-Japanese Studies Center “Angela Hondru.” In the preamble of the event, Mr. Costel Negricea PhD. Habil. Professor, Rector of the Romanian-American University, had a brief meeting with H.E. Ambassador Katae Takashi.
In the first part of the event, Alice Teodorescu, an independent researcher and author of “JAPANMANIA,” and Takumi Furusato, COO and Head of the Media Department at LUDiMUS, presented the audience with the latest trends in Japanese animation. Mr. Marian Coman, editor and director of NEZUMI by Nemira, provided interesting information about the first appearances of manga in the Romanian language.
The lecture session concluded with Chef Sorin Zaharia, bronze medalist at the World Sushi Cup in Tokyo, and Alina Ftadiev, project and research coordinator at JETRO Romania. Chef Zaharia shared the latest updates on Japanese gastronomy, along with his experience from the World Sushi Cup.
The second part of the event featured a Japanese gastronomy demonstration with tasting, led by chefs Andrei Zaharia and Sorin Zaharia from Zen Sushi. On this occasion, our University Rector Costel Negricea PhD. Habil. Professor awarded Chef Sorin Zaharia with a certificate of excellence in recognition of his recent achievement in Tokyo.
Our university is honored to have hosted such a significant cultural event, within the broader context of the recent strengthening of bilateral Romanian-Japanese relations through the signing of a strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries in March 2023. One of the main main pillars of enhancing cooperation as part of the strategic partnership is the fields of “culture, science and technology, research and development, innovation, and interpersonal contacts.”
