Representatives of the Romanian-American University visited Lapland University, Finland, to discuss new options for academic cooperation
A delegation of the Romanian-American University led by Tudor Edu Ph.D. Habil. Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Innovation, and Internationalization, was in Finland at the invitation of Lapland University of Applied Sciences (UAS), a partner of the Romanian-American University since 2011. Over the years, the two universities have jointly organized courses and mobility programs specifically aimed at the academic development of students and the continuous training of teaching staff.
The delegation, consisting of 10 representatives from the Romanian-American University, discussed options for the development of academic cooperation, analyzed best practices, and identified new collaboration opportunities for local and European projects. The meeting with Ms. Dr. Riitta Rissanen, the Rector of Lapland University of Applied Sciences (UAS) has led to the development of ideas for educational cooperation in the form of double-degree educational programs. Another crucial point addressed was formulating new directions for collaboration in the educational field and research projects.
In addition to the aforementioned collaboration opportunities, the visit to the three campuses (Tornio, Kemi, and Rovaniemi) also included important discussions with teaching staff, with experts from AI, Bioeconomy, and Healthcare Centers, and the testing of podcasting and virtual reality solutions for the integration of new technologies into the teaching process.
The collaboration between the two universities offers numerous valuable opportunities for students and teaching staff from both institutions, including:
Academic exchanges and mobility: The implementation of courses and academic exchanges between the two universities is essential for enriching the students’ experience. These programs enable students to explore new cultures and learning methods, contributing to their personal and professional development.
The possibility of Double-Degree Study Programs: These programs provide students with the opportunity to accumulate valuable knowledge from both universities, resulting in the attainment of an internationally recognized diploma upon completing their studies, both from the Romanian-American University and Lapland University of Applied Sciences in Finland.
Research project development: Collaboration in scientific research provides opportunities for discovery and innovation in various fields.
Utilization of technology in education: Testing podcasting and virtual reality solutions in the teaching process demonstrates the commitment of both institutions to adapting to new technologies and teaching methods.
Personal and academic development: Collaborating with a university from another country provides students with an international perspective and enhances their ability to adapt to diverse environments. This is a valuable experience for their development as global citizens.
This collaboration showcases the commitment of both universities to academic excellence and student development. It also serves as a positive example of international cooperation in the field of education and research.
