SelectUSA SEE at the Romanian-American University
The Romanian-American University hosted the SelectUSA SEE event on September 12th, starting at 4 PM, organized by the US Commercial Service from the US Embassy Romania. The event was dedicated to promoting the opportunities to expand or develop local or regional business in the USA.
Mr. Omar Oweiss, an International Investment Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration, working for SelectUSA as Portofolio Manager for Central and Southeast Europe, was the event’s special guest and main speaker.
SelectUSA is the U.S. government program led by the U.S. Department of Commerce that focuses on facilitating job-creating business investment into the United States and raising awareness of the critical role that economic development plays in the US economy, as Mr. Oweiss mentioned at the beginning of his presentation of the SelectUSA program.
The United States offers the largest consumer market on earth with a GDP of $20 trillion and 325 million people and households accounting for nearly a third of global household consumption. USA is consistently ranked among the best at international level for its overall competitiveness and ease of doing business, and has a diverse, skilled, innovative, and mobile workforce with workers among the most productive in the world.
The SelectUSA SEE event enjoyed the online participation of US Embassy representatives and gathered in the Senate Hall of the Romanian-American University representatives of Romanian businesses interested in expanding on the United States’ markets. Moreover, the event was broadcasted to US Embassies in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Serbia, North Macedonia, Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro.
As a strong supporter of the US-Romanian collaboration with several partnerships with US Universities, it was a great pleasure for all of us here at the Romanian-American University to be able to help businesses in Romania and other SEE countries to connect, learn, and discover the reasons and proper means of expanding and accessing the United States’ markets.
